Treuting – another block and more lines

for David Degge

Another Block and More Lines was written for David Degge, a good friend and wonderful percussionist. The piece takes advantage of his unique brand of dulcimer playing and turns it into a one-man band experience adding a bass drum and hi hat played by the feet and the voice singing long tones on top.

The form of the piece jumps off of a work I wrote for myself and cellist Jeffrey Ziegler in two movement called Block and Line.  In this work, the first part exists in the vertical while the second inhabits the horizontal.  Another Block and More Lines organizes material in this same way, but with one performer doing all of the work.
