The Ninth Sō Percussion Summer Institute (SōSI)

July 16July 30, 2017

Princeton University

Early percussion composers like John Cage imagined a world of “organized sound,” where music consisted of more than just keyboard tones. For SōSI 2017, we will dig back into those first steps towards the modern percussion ensemble. Immerse yourself in the radical ideas that started it all!

For the first time, we are offering the chance to audit seminars at SōSI. For either a daily, weekly, or full festival pass, auditors can observe rehearsals, attend lectures, and interact with our faculty and participants.

The program is $250 for the entire 2 weeks, $125 per week, or just $25 a day,  Contact Sō’s Yumi Tamashiro to learn more or to reserve a spot!

Apparently this band has been making new music for 35 years and didn’t bother to tell many people. Why ruin it? Rose, Eddie, Hanna, Tim, Squiggy, Lemmy, Alfalfa they’ll all be there, with brand new ways to cut in song in pieces. Tell Everyone! Cuz it’s free (donation suggested) and there’s a fridge of beer and seltzer!
