So performs at Dartmouth

April 28, 20198:00pm

Faulkner Recital Hall

This concert by Sō Percussion (Josh Quillen, Jason Treuting, Eric Cha-Beach and Adam Sliwinski) includes Steve Reich’s Music for Pieces of Wood and two more recent works written for the quartet: Caroline Shaw’s Taxidermy, for flower pots and speaking, and Vijay Iyer’s Torque, a virtuosic mallet quartet for two vibraphones and two marimbas. The quartet will also play member Jason Treuting’s amid the noise, a communal music-making project that can occur with a flexible number of musicians in almost any combination.

The concert is preceded at 7 pm by a Talk with Sō Percussion, moderated by Dartmouth Fellow Victoria Aschheim

Babe the blue OX and the Schickele Family Denim Review

Sō Laboratories (Our Home In Brooklyn!)
20 Grand Avenue, #205, Brooklyn, New York 11205

Apparently this band has been making new music for 35 years and didn’t bother to tell many people. Why ruin it? Rose, Eddie, Hanna, Tim, Squiggy, Lemmy, Alfalfa they’ll all be there, with brand new ways to cut in song in pieces. Tell Everyone! Cuz it’s free (donation suggested) and there’s a fridge of beer and seltzer!
