Community

Increasingly, Sō Percussion has come to define our mission in terms of service to our various overlapping communities. Although we embrace the traditional role of an arts organization as bringing the arts to diverse communities through education, we have also begun to pursue projects that provide direct service to those in need.

Our Studio – Rentals and Residencies

The Sō Percussion Studio Residency Program commits to fostering New York City based music ensembles and organizations at Sō’s Clinton Hill Studio. Residency partners receive rehearsal time in the Sō percussion studio, formal mentoring sessions with Sō Percussion and staff, and a performance on Sō Percussion’s Brooklyn Bound concert series.

Princeton University

In 2014, The department of music at Princeton University selected Sō Percussion to be the Edward T. Cone Performers-in-Residence. As part of the residency Sō Percussion teaches graduate and undergraduate students, leads workshops, rehearses and performs new works by student and faculty composers, coaches chamber music, gives master classes, and presents two concerts from the group’s touring repertoire each academic year.
